Cala Mesquida is a 350-metre long tongue-shaped sea inlet flanked by low rocks on both sides and just over 70 metres wide at its widest point, which gives way to a beach of fine white sand and turquoise waters. The name Mesquida comes from a " possessió " (as country houses are known in Mallorca), Sa Mesquida de Dalt.

The beach is 300 metres in length and over 100 metres in depth. Home to one of the largest colonies of gulls and Balearic cormorants, the area is protected due to its importance for bird life.
